Do you know who you are?

I remember sometimes back in 2018 when I had my first internship with Mrs. Ruqayat Giwa. My experience with her birthed my passion for a career in Digital Marketing. The most memorable part of it all was the exposure. She helped me discover and understand myself better, she pushed me beyond limits and supported me with words of encouragement. Her work style and her experiences basically just inspire me and I’m forever thankful our paths crossed. After my internship with her on exploring the power of digital, I have never looked back. I have strived by all means to place myself on any platform or opportunity that will help me scale up my career which explains why I’m on Digify Pro Nigeria Cohort 4.0 Abuja.

On the journey of Self-discovery, it has been a different story for every new phase of learning. A part of me is usually unveiled after working with a certain group over time. Although, for certain things I was fully aware, I never took it seriously until it was reiterated by my colleagues. One of such is the emphasis placed on my strength in Design on Digify Pro. To be honest, I never thought I was doing anything spectacular until I started Digify Pro and noticed how upset I get when I see Ill-placement of elements and colours on my group’s pitch deck for the week. In fact, in Week 5, I had the opportunity to re-design the slides for my group’s presentation, I felt so good about it and they were all happy with the outcome. I also think the appearance and organization of our slides boosted our score.

Discipline, Organization, Design, Attention to detail and generally, neatness are blends of my values and strengths that I have built over time. All these I presented in my video resume and to recruiters who came to interview us on Thursday at Hub where we received our training. That day, I had my heart racing fast at the mere thought of having an interview. I was quite nervous but I tried to kill it with adequate preparation and belief in the little things I know. The tension disappeared after meeting the first recruiter, I just had my eyes focused on my brain and I replied to every question to the best of my ability.

Great news! the outcome of that process is; I’m going to be spending the next three months in a Diagnostic Centre in Abuja. I have been placed there for my Internship and I hope to really bring value to the table. I feel it was a good match for me because I studied Biology at the university, a lot of medical jargon won’t be entirely new to me and then the location is also central. Transportation won’t be a challenge.

Don’t mind me, I’m dwelling on updates for Thursday because I had a memorable experience (the interview & rehearsals for the video resume) that day. But other days still had something significant attached to it. On Monday, as usual, Digify Trainer, Mrs. Dami Ade introduced us to Web design and User experience. I have been waiting for this part because I have always wanted to be a “Pro” in Web design and management and I‘m definitely exploring WordPress over and over again. At least, I have my personal website and our class project to practice with. My key takeaway from this class was the Principles of User Experience and its importance in designing a website. This left me with the lesson; Design is worth it but not everything, leave your user with a good experience!

We also had a guest speaker for the week, Mr. Chika Jones from X3M ideas. He walked us through different digital campaigns carried out by his company. We discussed some of the ideas used during these campaigns that made it a success.

Finally, on Wednesday, Joshua Theophilus concluded his session on Facebook ads manager and Google AdWords. He just introduced us to features like Split test ads and Event manager on Facebook. The rest of the work lies in running live campaigns and practicing what we have learnt. Same also goes for Google Adwords.

The presentation we had this week was a little different from what we usually do in the past 6 weeks. This time, we received a brief from the Program Director, Mrs. Florence Atunwa. It involved Planning a 360 campaign for Digify Pro Nigeria. We received corrections right on the spot of our pitch and even afterwards. My group performed well; we came 2nd place of all 4 groups. It was clear that we did a lot of work & we had a lot of creatives to back up our proposed campaign but we didn’t nail the strategies well which gave group 1 an edge over us by just 0.5%.

That was all for this week, and I will be updating you one more time next week on my final experience at Digify Pro Nigeria Cohort 4.0
