Week 4: 9th — 13th September 2019

You can do it!

Was it so hard? No!…

It wasn’t all perfect but you have improved and we believe you can still do more!. This was the feedback I got from my peers after presenting for my group at Total Nigeria Plc. On Monday, this week, we received a live brief from Mrs. Sonye Allanah, Deputy General Manager, Public Affairs at Total Exploration and Production Nigeria, Ltd. This was after an engaging session on “Building a strong and dynamic brand”. We were tasked with creating a digital marketing campaign on different products owned by Total Nigeria Plc. We made presentations on these during our visit and all the staff in attendance were in awe at the level of our delivery. Impressive was all they described our performance. And of course who visits a big organization like that and leaves empty-handed? Well, we didn’t because we were rewarded with some freebies; a lovely Adire bag with a diary, an album, a mug, and a flash drive.

Rewind to Tuesday; Building a brand was still the phrase for the day as Mrs. Titilope Ojo facilitated a session with us that morning, but this time, it was building brands through storytelling. The power in her voice and her friendly gestures was enough to knock one off sleep mode for the entire day. I still remember how she reflected on her experience with Sonder, a hotel brand in San Fransico that used storytelling to connect with its audience. She kept going on and on about their website feel and her experience at the Hotel. I think you should visit this link to have a feel of the engaging stories on their website.

The following day, Mrs. Florence gave us a lecture on Effective listening skills, which is a follow-up session to effective communication skills in the previous week. I learnt some tips on how to ace a presentation and tell stories while communicating.

I also learnt a lot about marketing with Twitter and Instagram from our trainer; Joshua Theophilus. He shared some tools and hacks for using twitter and Instagram to marketing effectively.

The last session for the week was on Blogging by Mrs. Funke Oshae Brown. She highlighted the key differences between News blogs and Personal blogs and best practices for blogging.

It was a bag full of knowledge this week, and I look forward to the remaining 4 weeks on Digify Pro!
