Please turn down the heat!

This is what the heat felt like…

No, it’s not the heat from the Gas burner, I’m referring to the Digify Pro heat (chuckles)

It all began on Monday morning when I stood for a 3 hours lecture (a punishment for resuming about 5 minutes late) by Mrs. Damilola on Social Media Analytics, to the pressure of completing all given tasks for the week, to squeezing out time to meet with teammates and finally presenting our briefs on Friday. It is hard to really say how this week went because we had a lot to do, but one thing is for sure: I learnt a lot from completing all the given tasks.

The Guest Speaker for the week was Mr. Emmanuel Mang from Web Coupers, a Digital Marketing Agency in Lagos. He walked us through Google analytics, its importance, and basic features. I now understand the importance of Analytics as a whole and how it helps businesses make informed decisions. Before now, I saw “Analytics” as a cluster of boring graphs and charts. But now, I’m beginning to pay more attention to it and will like to explore this area since “Data and Analytics” is an aspect in Digital that hasn’t been fully tapped into.

One remarkable task for this week was the Trend on Twitter pushed by the entire team of Digify Pro Cohort 4.0 Abuja. Being a part of this, made me understand a couple of hacks for Twitter. I was also able to explore the process of curating content for Social during this activity too. Before this class, we had a session with Mr. Oseni Oluwatobi Timothy. Again, he emphasized Social Media Analytics and reporting for data-driven decisions. Let me quickly say this; Do you pay attention to Weather forecast and how it can help you make certain decisions in the future? Well, I’m guilty of not paying attention to it, even when I have the information clearly displayed on my Mobile.

The” heat” for the week began to cool-off when we had a tour around the estate where our hub is located. All participants paid visits to the business centres in the area to introduce digital skills and invite business owners to our free digital skills training during the weekend. Our Trainer, Joshua Theophilus coordinated this after he lectured us on Ads reporting in the early hours of that day.

On Thursday, we spent the whole day preparing our CV’s. It took me about 2hrs to finish my first attempt after which it was reviewed by our Trainer, Mrs. Damilola Ade and our Program Director, Mrs. Florence Olumodimu. Completing this task helped me appreciate the concepts of Design and formatting, and My attention-to-detail has just gotten better!

“Fridays are for Briefs”. We finally experienced some calm after we made our presentations on the brief. My teammates were very co-operative and full of energy. We worked collectively in peace and we were able to scale to 2nd position. It was such a great relief for me because, in the previous weeks, everything seemed to be going wrong with my presentations and the overall Team’s performance.

Hmmm…. it’s been a work-loaded week and I’m looking forward to one or two agency tours before the end of this program.
